Pokhara

Pokhara ValleyFor travelers seeking tranquility and natural beauty, the Pokhara Valley is the place to go. One can enjoy vistas of the snow capped Hiamlayan Annapurna Range, green hills, and the gushing Seti river. Reflections of the great peak, Macchapuchre (the Fishtail), are often reflected in beautiful Lake Phewa. A warm sunny climate keeps flower in bloom year round.
 

Places to see:
Mountain views: Mountain views are clearly the most stunning of Pokhara's sights and form a magnificient backdrop for the city and Valley.

Phewa Lake: Phewa Lake is the second largest lake in the country. It is a central attraction for the town.

Begnas and Rupa Lake: Begnas and Rupa Lake, a few kilometers out of town, are secluded nature retreats with boating and fishing oppourtunities.

Varahi Temple:Varahi Temple, an attractive place on a small island in the middle of Phewa Lake, makes a nice destination for a boat ride.

World peace pagoda: World Peace Pagoda, is a huge new Buddhist stupa situated high on top of the hill on the southern shore of Phewa Lake. The shrine is an impressive sight and offers a breath-taking vantage point for the views of the Annapurna Range and of the Pokhara Valley.

Seti Gorge and Green Canyon: Seti Gorge and Green Canyon provides a location for the new and ultra-luxurious Fulbari Resort.

Devi's FallDevi's Fall: Devi's Fall, a modest waterfall, located just outside pokhara, is worth a quick visit.

Gupteswar Gupha: upteswar Gupha is a sacred limestone cave near Devi's fall.

Mahendra Gupha: Mahendra Gupha, another limestone cave, is known also as the "House of Bats". Bring a flaslight; the generator is known to fail!

Museums Pokhara Museums: There are exhibits portraying lifestyles and history of local ethnic groups, including; Gurung, thakali,and Tharu people

Annapurna Museums: Managed by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), a very active citizen environmental group in the Annapurnas, collections of butterflies, insects, birds, wildlife, precious and semi-precious stone, and volcanic rocks are exhibited.

International Mountaineering Museum: Just completing construction by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), this impressive edifice will feature mountaineering displays developed by alpine clubs from around the world.Its' backdrop is a full-on view of the whole impressive Annapurna Range.

Exciting sports: Boating, Paragliding and Pony treks all can be arranged in the Pokhara Valley. Adventure sports: Boating, Paragliding and Pony treks.

Access: Daily flights from Kathmandu take thirty minutes and daily buses from Kathmandu arrive in five to six hours.
